SCIENTISTS: Up to Six Segments Remain Unbusted
A research paper published by scientists this week about the auto industry concludes that as many as six segments remain unbusted.
“The findings came as a surprise to us all. We thought that after the wagon-oriented crossovers like the Chrysler Pacifica and Ford Flex, and the wagons with a bit of SUV flavor, like the Subaru Forester, and the four door coupes like the Mercedes CLS and VW CC, everything would be covered.” said lead researcher Michael Malone.
Automobile manufacturers have touted the benefits of their segment busting automobiles for years, but it seems like more work remains to be done.
“To deal with this crisis, BMW will be releasing several coupe-based minivans by 2011 and a hybrid diesel-electric convertible pickup truck under the MINI brand in 2013.” said BMW public relations director Frank Hanft.
Audi immediately issued their own statement in response via Facebook page “Unlike BMW, we’re not trying to be all things to all people. Our technology-driven lineup will include a new segment-busting 7-passenger Audi TT, so that people can buy one car whether they want a sports car or a family hauler.”
