REPORT: Bloggers Asked GM to Re-Embargo Pictures of GMC Granite Concept Late Last Night
According to reports, several bloggers and prominent automotive websites — including the dominant CarsRulez blog — approached GM at 12:01 last night, asking if the embargo that had just expired on those pictures could be re-introduced.
“The car is not just ugly, it’s going to go over badly with the audience. Our readers are cynical and think GM won’t put any of these crazy concept cars into production. We journalists know better, but we have to do what the readers want,” said an anonymous source who works at the desk of Mike Williams at the CarsRulez blog office.
After the embargo expired at 12:01, panicked journalists realized that it would be hours until the Monday morning Detroit press conferences began, meaning for 8 hours the GMC Granite Concept would be the lead story on dozens of automotive websites.
