To compete with the recently announced Aston Martin based on the Toyota Aygo, Maserati has teamed up with Ford to build the Maserati Povertà, based on the newest Ford Ka.
“We look forward to challenging Aston Martin in the burgeoning ultra premium sub-compact segment,” announced Maserati spokesman Carlo Ludicci. “Our new Povertà subcompact will offer class leading amounts of chrome and the largest grill ever installed on a city car.”
Engines will remain unchanged, though fans on Italiaspeed.info pointed out that the Ford Ka is essentially an Italian car anyway. “Since the Ka amounts to little more than just a rebadged Fiat 500, this is really an in-house project for Fiat” said user ALFAORBMWORDIE.
Prices are expected to start at €49.000 for the Povertà. Will it be released in America? Click the jump to find out.
