Hyundai Plans to Compete with Ferrari Enzo, Car Will Only Cost as Much as Ferrari 458
Hyundai has announced plans to build a hypercar on the performance level of the Ferrari Enzo, but in typical form for the Korean manufacturer they plan to deliver it for a much lower price — only that of a Ferrari 458 Italia.
Presenting the news at a press conference in California, Hyundai spokesman Harold Nixon said “The market has been crying out for a fantastic value like this in supercars. The Enzo, which is technically out of production, still sells for between $600,000 and $1,000,000. We plan to deliver a car with that level of performance for the incredibly low price of $250,000.”
Hyundai also found success moving upmarket with its new Genesis luxury sedan, advertising it as a competitor to the BMW 7-Series at the price of a BMW 5-Series. Nixon elaborated “We’re going to do the same thing here. Ferrari Enzo performance, bargain Ferrari 458 Italia price.” Is the world ready for a $250,000 Hyundai? “Well, they were suckered into the $40,000 Hyundai. I don’t see what the difference is, really.”
Does that mean we can expect a Corvette-level Kia for the price of a Camaro?
What about a Smartfortwo level with the price of a Tata Nano?
How about something offering Hyundai-like performance for the price of a Vespa?
