Ford’s Farley: “We’ll Market Our Cars to Idiots”

Ford's Capless Gas Cap, Finally Relieving the Stress of Gassing Up

Ford's Capless Gas Cap, finally relieving the stress of gassing up

Ford Motor’s VP of Global Marketing, James Farley, has announced that Ford is orienting its new marketing efforts towards idiots, by using testimonies from fellow idiots who bought their products. [In select cities, morons will also be featured - Ed]. Their latest commercials show customers gushing about pink interior lights, admitting they can’t read their odometer to know when to change their oil and talking about how they like the “capless” gas cap because so-called HandGas syndrome is common among idiots trying to fill their tanks.

“Public education has produced a generation of consumers who expect everything to be geared towards the lowest common denominator,” Farley explained. “We’re just capitalizing on that trend by showing what idiots find exciting about their new cars without getting all technical with talk about horsepower, torque, g forces, safety and all that other stuff they didn’t get in physics or science classes.” The next round of commercials will ramp up the excitement quotient by showing how any idiot can put the key in the ignition with either side up and make the car go forward by putting the shifter into “D,” Farley disclosed.
