B.J. Novak Adds “FakeRayWert” to lawsuit against Ray Wert for Identity Theft
We have an update for you in the B.J. Novak lawsuit against Ray Wert for alleged identity theft. According to court documents obtained by MetaCars.com’s court and legal correspondent, Novak has added the person behind the Twitter account “FakeRayWert” as a defendant in his suit.
Novak’s Motion to Add a Party says in part that “The suit was initiated against Wert because of his theft of Novak’s character’s comedically douchey persona. This FakeRayWert fellow, in mocking Wert, is just further profiting from our intellectual property. If anything, by taking Ray Wert’s character to the extreme, he’s stolen even more from our Ryan Howard character.”
Novak told MetaCars on a phone interview today that “I’ve had enough of this Wert fellow walking around with the undeserved sense of self importance and hair gel — that’s my character Ryan Howard’s schtick, and it took three entire days in the writers’ room to develop.” Novak, the writer and star of the TV show The Office, had first filed suit weeks ago against Wert, alleging identity theft.
